(LS) — Let’s face it! Almost all of us are feeling some form of hard times these days. Whether it’s actually being out of work, having to accept a pay cut or a prolonged wage freeze, taking a ‘less than ideal’ job that we may have passed on a couple of years back, or simply feeling the brunt of record high fuel, food and other staple costs, many of us are having to accept a difficult economic reality.
When we experience the high degree of personal financial difficulty, which many of us are now, reality often stings in more ways than just in the wallet. Personal pride and self-esteem, relationships, especially with those closest to us, and ironically, even work performance – the last aspect of our lives we can afford to jeopardize – often feel the tremors of the financial quake. This seems especially true for Americans, since we place so much personal value on how we provide for ourselves and our family.
Don’t Put Gas on the Fire – Protect Your Credit!
While going through rough times is certainly trying and it’s perfectly normal to feel anxious, unsettled, even guilty over our current scenario, it’s important not to let our wounded egos run the whole show. If we’re not careful, we can make a bad situation much worse. One particular area where I have seen this happen, and I hope to help you avoid, deals with your personal credit!
It’s likely for many of us to have a lower credit rating than we did before times got so tough. However, since we are clearly not alone in this mess, with so many people having to undergo short-sales, foreclosures and the like, banks and other lenders are also much more forgiving at times. But they won’t be that considerate if you really let your credit fall apart. I found the folks at the Credit Credit Repair Group very helpful. Being able to ‘clean up’ some of those seemingly small items as well as some other blemishes can go a long way in keeping up a decent credit profile, even if it’s far from perfect. And let’s remember, there is some light at the end of this tunnel! We’ve been through tough times before and we will come out of them just the same. Just be sure that when you emerge from troubled waters, you don’t leave your credit standing behind to drown!
